INTERNATIONALIZATION UNIT, POLITEKNIK NILAI

OVERVIEW

The Internationalization Unit of Politeknik Nilai (PNS) was established in 2008 as a specialized unit primarily responsible for dealing with and administering international collaboration. Essentially, the unit serves as the point of reference for all international affairs-related issues. Since its establishment, this unit has evolved into a full-fledged unit dealing with all benefits under all international agreements, including;

i) Encouraging the hosting of joint conferences, symposium, workshops and exhibitions for the managers of training institutes, trainers and trainees;

ii) Conducting technical researches and studies that may help carry out the areas of cooperation included in this program;

iii) Adopting joint training programs for the managers of the training centers and institutes;

iv) Exchanging experiences related to the technical domains in order to implement the training programs as well as conducting studies and the related consultations;

v) Exchanging and disseminating studies, researches and other related information materials;

vi) Mutual recognition of certificates/qualifications in the areas identified by both parties; and

vii) Other forms of cooperation in the field of technical and vocational training as may be agreed upon by the two parties in the future.

SERVICE FUNCTION

The primary function of the PNS Internationalization Unit is to contribute towards the strengthening of PNS international profile through the pursuit and promotion of relationships with international institutions, and to ensure that maximum benefit is derived from those relations. This unit operates in accordance with the Malaysian Polytechnic Internationalization Strategy, which went into effect on May 15, 2014. The strategy comprises of 6 main aims that can be applied by officers, lecturers and polytechnic students in standardizing the organization of matters pertaining to internationalization programs and activities carried out by the department and institution. The 6 main aims are as follows;

i) International Cooperation

ii) Boarderless Educational Environment

iii) International Student Access

iv) International Recognition

v) Programs Articulation

vi) International Perspectives

Furthermore, the programmes planned are in line with the Department of Polytechnics and Community Colleges' mission of gaining international recognition through collaboration and active participation in the TVET community, as well as meeting the 8th Malaysia Education Development Plan 2015-2025 (Higher Education), which is a global advantage with increased participation of students and academic staff in international activity.
